This move which will keep him at White Hart Lane till 2016, has come as a shock to many clubs interested in Bale’s signature as reports suggested that Bale was keen in moving away from Tottenham after the sacking of their manager Harry Redknapp. Despite the club’s failure to qualify to the Champions League and interest from heavyweights such as Barcelona and Real Madrid, Gareth Bale has pledged his support to his side.

Talking to their official website, Bale said, “I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute. I love the club and the fans.” When asked if the club will suit his ambitions, Bale replied, “The club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done”.

Bale joined Tottenham five years back from Southampton for a fee of 5 million euros. Over the past two years, he has developed into an consummate player. He was featured in the PFA Premier League team of the year during both 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Last year, he was also named in the UEFA team of the year.

When asked about his ambitions for the next season, Bale commented, “It’s great to sign again. I love the club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League – where we belong.”

Former Spurs player Jurgen Klinsmann, Fabio Capello, French boss Laurent Blanc and Andre Villas-Boes are in the race to fill Tottenham’s vacant managerial role.

With Bale moving to commit his future to the club, it could be possible that a manager could’ve already been hired in principle. The new manager might be named in the upcoming days and early reports suggest that it could be Andre Villas-Boes, the ex-Chelsea boss.
