Fergusson’s answer to that question? A simple “Possibly”.
With such an on-the-fence answer like that, it doesn’t look like the speculation on a PC version of Gears of War 4 will be going away any time soon. But given that Xbox Boss Phil Spencer has reiterated that Microsoft is committed to PC gaming, it’s fair to say that until Fergusson flat out says “no”, a PC version of Gears of War 4 remains a possibility.
It’s no secret that PC is the place to be for cutting-edge graphics and gaming performance - just look at The Division on PC - and given that Fergusson has recently hyped Gears of War 4 as a “graphical showcase”, it would be a bit of a shame if the game were to miss out on harnessing the full power of PC.
While this PC news from Fergusson won’t exactly be music to the ears of some Gears of War fans, at least gamers will have the comfort of knowing that Gears of War 4 will be going back to its roots. Yesterday saw the confirmation that Gears of War 4 will support split-screen co-op, something which will make long-time Gears fans happy. Couple that with yesterday’s reveal of some intriguing story details about the game - Gears of War 4 is set on the planet Sera 25 years after Gears of War 3 - there is still much to look forward to from Gears of War 4.
The question of whether Gears of War 4 will have a PC version is still up in the air, but given that the PC Gaming Show at E3 2015 saw the announcement of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on PC, perhaps the the answer will come at this year’s PC Gaming Show for E3 2016.
Gears of War 4 is scheduled for launch in 2016 for Xbox One.
