Titled Gears of War: Anvil Gate, the story picks up some time after the events of Gears of War 2, as Marcus and his team are trying to return to a state of normalcy after thinking the Horde destroyed. On the newly created island of Jacinto, the Gears team discovers that the Lambent are marching their way across the planet, forcing human and Horde to fight side by side to destroy their mutual enemy.
If gamers want to attain a greater understanding of the events of Gears of War 3 then they should absolutely pick up this book, as it will enrich the experience. Epic Games Executive Producer Rod Fergusson had this to say.

If you are looking for one final book to zip through before heading back to school, then Anvil Gate is the one for you.
